Marketing Director
Job description
Are you a current Marketing Manager or Head of Marketing in an SME, seeking a Director level role in a nimble and proactive challenger brand, where you can rise to challenges and opportunities quickly, flex your style and hustle - but also want the stability of a larger scale organization?
Maybe you are a SBM in a blue chip, who has always had a desire to move to a smaller business but the right role or stability has put you off – Well… this £25mil UK business is backed globally by a billion dollar US business, so you have the best of both with the backing and resource, but also the ability to work in a more agile autonomous environment where you can really make an impact!
Hard to find something like this, isn’t it…
This FMCG brand provides balance in more ways than one. You will find:
- A small yet perfectly formed UK team who are way past the start-up phase and pushing on to be a real threat to the two larger players in the category.
- A large international business who provide real direction, purpose and investment to take the UK market by storm.
- A team who work hard and play hard. Work life balance is key in this business and you won’t be finding people who are running 12 hour days! They’re done by 5pm but in the time they’re working, productivity is high!
- A team who take time out. They’re a social bunch and the 2-3 days a week they’re in the office (central London) you’ll find them out after work or planning in time to focus on health & wellbeing.
Balance is what has made them successful, along with brand which stands out, has a premium feel elevating itself against the wider category, continually invests in NPD adding to the range and is the fastest growing brand in their category in the UK!
I hear you thinking… this sounds too good to be true. What’s wrong with it? Well nothing really! Honestly, as I mentioned earlier, you’ve stumbled across one of those rare gems!
OK – so this won’t be for everyone. If you’re a senior marketer looking for a purely strategic leadership role where you are not expecting to get your hands dirty, this won’t be for you. These guys hustle. They move quickly. 80% is good enough. Don’t know something? Find it out yourself. Think differently, get excited, because these guys are going to be HUGE!
The role covers the full marketing mix, and they are looking for a strategic player to drive growth in a declining market, and manage the US stakeholders to ensure you are optimizing your performance in the UK as a local market. This is not a role where you can just do what you want, so being aware of the challenges a US owned business can bring and how to navigate them to do right for your market is important! You will have a direct report who is AMAZING! But with just the 2 of you, the strategy for long term growth is one crucial thing, but the execution piece as well is just as pivotal! You will be working with the UK GM very closely so this is a very visible and highly regarded role, but when it comes to in store activation, socials, NPD and the stage gate process, you will need to be a doer!
So what will this Marketing Director be responsible for in this business?
