Category Manager
Job description
Calling all Category Managers…
Are you looking for a new opportunity within a growing FMCG business, working in a fast-paced and fun environment? Then look no further!
Signature Career Management is working with a food manufacturer based in the Greater Manchester area, which is number 1 in its category and is working hard to maintain this status. Specialising in private label and operating across several channels, this business invests heavily in its people and products.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of a key account, a key strategic customer with strong existing relationships and exciting growth opportunities.
With increased shelf space in a core category, the challenge is clear:
How do we make that space work harder?
What’s the right range?
How do we influence the buyer to think differently?
You’ll play a critical role in:
Analysing performance across a 30+ SKU range – identifying opportunities to simplify, optimise, and grow
Turning data into compelling, commercial stories that influence decision-making
Supporting range reviews and helping shape the future direction of the category
Managing day-to-day engagement with key accounts, maintaining and strengthening an already strong relationship
Balancing internal ambition with external reality – ensuring the right ideas are prioritised and executed effectively
This is a role where you’ll own your space, have a voice, and make an impact.
What We’re Looking For:
Strong analytical capability – confident using Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
Comfortable working with data and turning it into insight
FMCG experience is beneficial, but not essential
But more importantly, character is everything:
Personality – someone with energy, presence, and a bit of edge
Confident communicator who can influence and challenge
Naturally curious with their own ideas and perspective
Detail-oriented but able to see the bigger picture
Self-starter who gets stuck in and takes ownership
Someone who wants more than just a job – this is about building a career
What Success Looks Like
You’re not just reporting on data – you’re shaping decisions
You build credibility with both internal stakeholders and the Morrisons buying team
You challenge the status quo and bring fresh thinking to the category
You help ensure the business maximises its space with the right products, not just more products
